A and B sentences

1. Person A falls from B's roof while fixing it.

In this case, B is not responsible because he wasn't the one to cause A to fall, A fell alone.

2. Person A is asking for money and B walks by.

Again, it is not Bs fault if A has financial problems and his is asking for money, B just doesn't care but it is not his fault.

3. A needs to go somewhere but he doesn't have a car, B lends him his car and A has an accident.

In this case, B is partially responsible for not warning A about the car's problems, but I wouldn't say it is his fault because he was being nice and gave it to A who was in need.

4. B has piggy virus, goes to school and gives it to A.

This time B is responsible for going to school while having the piggy flue, because he knew that others would get it from him but he didn't care.

My dear Katrina,
I am in my office waiting for the Stock Exchange to open and I am dreaming of you...

I remember our acquaintance at the Empire State Building last March- I was on a rush for a business appointment, when you came up to me telling me that you got lost. For me, it was love at first sight. The following two months we spent together were unforgettable. I am so glad we got married before your flight to Los Angeles!

How is your life in LA? Take care of yourself. Don't work too hard. You know you can count on me and if you are in need of extra money, do not hesitate to ask me.

I feel so lonely and I miss you so much! I'm sure you have the same emotions as I do. I am looking forward to see you as soon as you complete your obligations.

With all my love,

Yours,

Alan

Dear Alan,
Los Angeles is fantastic! You can't imagine how many celebrities I've met since I've been here.

I've been in too many auditions, and last week I signed my first contract. Very soon you'll see me on the screen. I'm sure I'll become a star- an actress known all over the world!

I don't know if I can come to New York this year as I am very busy. In the meantime, I desperately need some money as I've spent almost everything you've given me to buy a luxury house.

Love,

Katrina

Dear Katrina,
I've been waiting for your letter and it was a surprise for me to receive it after such a long time. But my astonishment was greater to see how much you have changed!

Where is that modest person, the sensible girl I first met in New York? That sweet little face was always in my mind... The girl who hated alcohol and cigarettes...
If you didn't tell me that the person on the photo were you, I wouldn't have recognised you.
I'm so disappointed! I always thought of you as the prefect woman to be my wife and I gave you everything you've asked for- but you don't deserve it.

My lawyer will send you the papers for the divorce and please, don't contact with me again.

Good luck to you.

Alan.

Dear Allan,
Our divorce should be ready by now.

I'm sending you this note just to let you know that eventhough you are a marvellous person and I thank you for all the support you gave me, I never meant to get married and sacrifice my career. I admit that we had a great time together in New York, but for me it was the starting point to fulfil my dream- get the financial support and fly to LA to become famous. And I succeeded.

I'm sure you can find another lady who can be the best wife and the best mother for your children. You deserve it.

Look after yourself and thank you.

Katrina.

Short Story

The Russian ''Job''

“Are you ready?” asked Natasha.
“I think so” Ivan said.
Everything was ready to begin. Natasha and Ivan got in the van and drove to the place. The whole town was asleep, and they were ready for the “job”. They've been waiting for this moment since years. It was time for the man who killed their son to pay.

The memories still haunted their minds, even though so many years have passed. They couldn't forget how horrible their son's death was, and it was all Polonsky's and his gang's fault. The poor baby was an innocent victim, that got killed because of his parents having open “affairs” with Polonsky and his gang.

Ivan and his wife were both members of the Russian Mafia, and they caused a lot of trouble to Polonsky's gang. Polonsky got really angry and upset, and in order to make them pay, he killed their son that was only 1 years old. Ivan and Natasha got really mad, and now it was time for Polonsky to pay for his cruelness.

They waited in the van outside his house, until they made sure that Polonski was asleep. They put on their masks and gloves and got ready. With their legs trembling and their heart like stone, they got out of the van and moved quietly outside Polonski's window. They knew that he was asleep by the sound of his snoring, which could be heard from miles away. They made sure they had all the weapons they needed.

Ivan and Natasha were standing petrified under Polonski's window, but at the same time, they both had a creepy feeling of happiness. They loaded their guns, took their pocketknives, and Ivan broke in first through the window! Polonski was alerted, and he immediately reach for his AK-47 that he had under his bed. Before Ivan got a chance to pull the trigger, Polonsky shot him on his left leg. He fell on the floor and started crying and screaming because he couldn't move his leg. Polonsky went there and pulled Ivan's mask, and he jumped back. He didn't expect to see that face again, and he was ready to get rid of him once and for all.

While Polonsky was ready to finish Ivan, Natasha jumped there too, and stubbed Polonsky on the back. As Polonsky hadn't noticed Natasha hiding outside, when he got stubbed, he didn't know where it came from, he just fell on the ground facing down and died.

Immediately, Natasha grabbed Ivan and helped him to rush out of the house. They got in their van and drove away feeling satisfied and justified after they took revenge for their son's death. Even though Ivan and Natasha never forgot their son, they moved to another country, and from that point on, they were living like an ordinary couple, and put an end to their dark previous life.

Romeo and Juliet Videos

Romeo and Juliet Flip book:

I think that this video is very unique and it is really good. The idea of putting many pictures together to tell the story was very good. The person who did this video surely dedicated a lot of time to create it. It is also really good because anyone who sees it will get the main idea of the story in just 4 minutes. Another factor that added a lot to the video was the music that he put on the background, so that it made it more interesting, reminded the period of time that was written, and showed the emotions behind the drawings.

Romeo and Juliet stop motion style:

This video focused only on the last scene from the play. It was really enjoyable and it put a lot of detail. I liked the way he used characters from games and movies to represent the people from the play. I also liked that he took lots of pictures to make it look slow motion and give more detail in the feelings. I believed that took hours of hard work to be done and lots of pictures and editing, and that's made it a good video.

Star wars Lego Romeo and Juliet:

This is also a really good video. I believe that it was a good idea to use the introduction just like the star wars movie, and it was funny the way they changed the words and made it similar to the original one. It explains all the scenes that it says and I found it really funny.

Romeo and Juliet puppet AL ASSHOLE cra.. :

This video is really bad. In comparison to the other ones, it sucks. The people who were doing it didn't take it seriously. You can hear them laughing the whole time and you can't really understand what they are saying. Also they didn't even say which character represents which, and the background was the same the whole time. Also you can see their hands moving the puppets, and they didn't put any music to make it more interesting, except the beautiful singing at the end!

Marios Andreou

Marios Andreou was born on the first of April in 1960, in Kyrenia, Cyprus. He was a quiet boy and a very good student until the age of 15, when a misfortune marked his life.
After an invasion in his country, in 1974 he became a refugee, and moved to Nicosia. Misery and problems within his family were the main reason for Marios to be entangled with a bad company which cause him an imprisonment for 6 months.
From that point on, his whole life changed: Cyprus was a very small country for him to be accepted in, and immigration to Australia was the best that could happen to him. He managed to study, to get a good job there and recently, he became mayor of the Cyprus community in Melbourne. He is also the founder of Rehabilitations for teenagers being guilty of crimes, to help young people avoid facing the same cruel and miserable conditions he had faced himself.

Early life

Childhood
Marios Andreou was born on the first of April 1960 in Kyrenia, Cyprus. His parents were: Yiannis Andreou and Maroulla Kyriakou Andreou. He was the first born child of the family, and his sister Eleni was born in 1966. It was a happy and wealthy family. Marios was very obedient as a child, and an excellent student who everybody admired.

Young refugee
Unfortunately, when he was 14 years old, he and his family had to abandon their own house and properties because of the Turkish invasion in Cyprus, and moved to Nicosia as refugees. It was difficult for everybody to adjust to the new life. Poverty and hunger were the main reasons for quarrels between his parents. Mr. Yiannis couldn’t find a proper job, and the costs were running! Marios was at a crucial age.

Teenage Years

Crime
Teenagers always need more attention and advice than any other time, but none of his parents had the strength to do so, not because they didn’t want to, but as other concerns were on their mind. Marios, as a newcomer to the city, didn’t know a lot of how to distinguish good and bad boys, who were supposed to be appropriate friends, and who weren’t.
Therefore, he unwittingly found himself entangled in a theft! It was a mishap when a night in August 1975, Marios was drinking beers with his friends, in the middle of the shopping area down town. All of a sudden, one of the boys threw an empty bottle at the window of a jewelery shop, and the rest did the same. Marios, too. They broke the glass door of the shop, and the alarm system went on. Neighbours rushed into the street and in less than two minutes, the police came. Everybody got arrested, no matter that Marios was the youngest-15 years-, while the other boys were older.

Life in Prison
Marios got imprisoned for 6 months. That experience was something he would never wish for anyone-even his worst enemy- to have to go through. Even though he was accused for burglary, he was a teenager, and he was put in prison with real criminals, murderers, drug-dealers, thieves, and many other wicked persons. He had been insulted and maltreated those 6 months in that place, as no institution for young persons who committed a crime existed to help youth rehabilitate, and realize the crime they committed.

Unaccepted To His Country
When the rough time passed, Marios was out of prison, but he was confined to his home. Everyone in the country knew his crime, and as Cyprus is a very small country, he knew he couldn’t live in embarrassment and in contempt for the rest of his life.

Immigration

Difficulties of adjustment to new life
Marios’s Uncle’s invitation from Australia immigrate there, saved Marios from all these problems. The first months in Melbourne, were very difficult: Marios had to adjust to a completely new environment, he had to learn the English language, and as he went penniless to Australia, he had to find a job. It was a struggle for him, but with his relative’s support, he managed to get a job as a waiter in a restaurant and later on in a hotel, while at the same time he was going to school.

Work and studies
Marios did never give up. He went as a sociology part-time student to a University, and at the same time he was working as an assistant to a clothing industry ‘’Alexander’’ in order to cover his cost of living, and pay for the University fees.

Private life

Marital Status
Even though Marios is a very respected young man, he is still single at the age of forty nine years.

Interests
He spends most of his free time visiting young people of divorced families and helping anyone who asks for advice. That helped him a lot to regain his self-esteem.

Nowadays

Recent achievements
He is a social worker, and he recently became mayor of the Cyprus community in Melbourne. He fulfilled his vision to do something about all the young people who make the mistake of committing a crime. He founded rehabilitation for teenagers being guilty of crimes, in order to prevent them of facing the wretched conditions in prison he had faced himself.

Future Plans

Marios believes that soon he will be able to establish a similar institution for young criminals in Cyprus.

Voodoo In Haiti

Our essay is about voodoo as a religion in Haiti. And also we are going to talk about zombies because they take a big part in the practice of voodoos. Voodoo has been going on for more than 250 years and it is the main religion in Haiti, maybe around 95% of the population in the country is voodooist and the other 5% is Christianity.

Although millions still practice voodoo now a state allowed other religions in Haiti, some are turning their backs on the religion brought from Northern Africa, testing their faiths as their Caribbean nation grows with unsteadiness and poverty.Voodoo priests, priestesses, and witchdoctors collect together, on the lookout of patients, whose ills they claim they can cure with spells and herbal magic. Merchants sold everything from radios and clothes to straw hats and religious items like candles, perfumes, and images of their saints just to try to cure themselves from the sickness.

Voodoo is Haiti religion and it is taken seriously not only by no educated peasants, but also intelligent and educated members of the Haitian society. One of the most basic concepts of voodoo is that is that there is only one god, Bondye. There are three important categories of spiritual beings in voodoo: Iwa, the wins, and the dead.

Iwa are various spirits of family members and major forces of the Universe- good, evil, reproduction, health, all aspects of a daily life. Iwa interact with people of earth and during religious ceremonies they ride people ‘’mount’’, give messages and even cause various good and bad things to happen to people.

The Twins is a mysterious set of forces of contradictories: good and evil, happy and sad, etc. and of somebody is honored in religious services, he will have a better life.

The dead, according to which souls must be ‘’reclaimed’’ by the family members, in order for the family dead to be helpful, otherwise ignored family dead is dangerous.

The main activity of voodoo is healing people from illness, using herbs and faith healing with help of Iwa and other spirits. The priesthood of Voodoo consists of both Men (houngan) and women (Mambo) whose functions are healing performing religious ceremonies, telling the future and reading dreams, casting spells and creating protections. Another important feature in voodoo is the ‘’service’’, the religious rites of the religion. These usually held outside, under rough roof and around the ‘’poto mitan’’ the centre pole. Music by drums and dancing are essential to the whole service, and everybody present in the service fully participates.

In most services, the Iwa ‘’mount’’ people, i.e., they come and take over a person’s body for a time. When Iwa come, the person is gone. The body is the body of the person, but it is actually Iwa.Nearly every Voodoo service has animal sacrifice, as by killing the animal, one releases life. There are 2 types of Voodoo: Rada, Which accounts for about 95% of Voodoo and is a family of spirit with peaceful and happy Iwa, Petro (or Congo), which is a black magic Voodoo, with mean and nasty Iwa and death curses.

Some of the central Iwa in the Voodoo pantheon are:Legba: an old man who is the gate keeper between the world of earth and the world of the invisible (the spirits). The sun is one of the symbols.

Kalfu: is the Petro counterpoint of Legba, is a dangerous Iwa and the moon is a symbol.

Papa Ghede: Iwa of the death and resurrection, he is the lord of eroticism.

Dumballah: the father figure, he is the good snake, the sources of peace and tranquility.

Agwe: the sovereign of the seas.

Ogoun: the Warrior

Erzulie: the earth mother, the spirit of the goddess of love, she can read the future in dream, and it is a much loved Iwa.

Voodoo has a lot of fatalism, as Haitian people believe that Iwa determines out lives and that if you want to change anything in your life, you determines out lives and that if you want to change anything in your life’s, you cannot act on your own, but you must ask the Iwa.

Also, the Iwa are not very changeable. The things are the way they are because the Iwa has decided it. This fatalism contributes to the peasant’s unwillingness to struggle for liberation.

My weekend 7th-8th February 2009

Saturday

On Saturday morning, I woke up and I went to my young cousin's house because he had his birthday party. I was bored and didn't know what to do because there were only small kids there. I asked my older cousin if there was anything I could help him with for the party and told me they needed lemons to make lemonade, so I climbed on the lemon tree and cut off some lemons!

My young brother, Athos, helped me put the lemons in the bucket, by holding it up. When I was finally finished, we took the lemons I gathered to the kitchen. My aunt put them in the lemon squeezer to get the lemon juice out and make lemonade.

Later, my older cousin and I, both did some gardening for his house. Their bush needed to be cleared because it was growing wild and so my couisin and I started cutting them. It was the first time I did something like this, and I realized that being a gardener is actually a harder job than it seems! Even though it was tiring, I was really excited to cut the leaves off the bush!

After doing the gardening, the next job on the list was to fix some broken windows on the house. My cousin and I both carried ladders and put them on the wall so that we could climb and fix them. I was really scared because I am afraid of heights, but I did it and I saw that it wasn't that scary after all.

The last job we had to do was to dig the trees of their garden and also to shave their grass. I really enjoyed shaving it, even though I destroyed half of their flowers! After a lot of hard work and dedication, we were finally over and we could enjoy the rest of the day eating cakes and pizza from my young cousin's party inside the house.

Finally, it was time for my young cousin to blow the candles. We all gathered around him and started singing happy birthday to him. It was really strange being the tallest amongst all of them! After I finished singing, I started to eat pizza and cake because I was exhausted from all the work.

After all that ''fun'', I finally went home. I needed something to relax and so I decided I was going to play some guitar so that I could practice for next day's concert as well. I sat on my bed, plugged my guitar on my marshall amp and sarted playing my solos and riffs! It was really nice because every time I play the guitar I escape from my mother's screaming and shouting and I totally relax.

Sunday

The next day at 2:30 was the concert. I got quite nervous before going to the concert. I played my guitar for last time on the morning before I went, I dressed up and I went. Me and Mr. Kostas, my teacher, brought our amplifiers and we put them on stage. Everything was ready to begin and so I took my place and waited for Mr. Kostas to start playing.

I played a couple of songs and I was driving everyone crazy with my solos! I didn't expect to play like that, beacause when I started playing I was relieved from all the stress that I was feeling before. I really enjoyed playing and I think the audience enjoyed listening to me too!
It was such a special weekend doing extraordinary things, but I really had fun!

Agree/Disagree

Politics are only for adults and young kids should have nothing to do with that.

I agree with this statement, because young people don't know a lot about politics, and are not mature enough to have a right opinion about politics. Old people know what's best for their country's politics, and know the right person to vote for when there are elections. Young children don't know what's the right thing to believe in and they get easily influenced by what other people say, and so I believe that politics is clearly a thing for adults and mature people.

All people can be happy.

I agree because I believe that if you don't allow your problems take you down, then you can be happy. Of course, it is not possible for a person to be happy at all times and have things done the way he wants to. My opinion is that if people learn to ignore little things that make them feel sad and really bad, then I am sure that all people can be happy.

Podcast

Title: Storylife Podcast
Episode: Chris Bolton- For Those About To Rock!
Date: April 4th 2008
Time: 22:32
Website: Podcast.com
Description (From the creators)- ''We invited ACDC to come to this party back in 2001. It was a silly idea. Avery and I left a note on their tour bus with our phone numbers and crude drawings. We’d just moved to Portland, OR, and we were impressed with all the cool kids and happenings in town''.

Why I picked this Podcast?

I believe that ACDC is one of the best hard rock bands ever! I like their songs and I listen to them very often. It is a band with a big name and history, and there is a lot to tell about that band. I also like rock music a lot and that's why I decided to write a music podcast summary.

I was searching for a music podcast in the internet and I found a story of two people that wanted to invite ACDC to this party. I thought it was interesting and I decided to write a summary about this unusual event.

The story takes place in Portland, where a couple Avery and Chris, move in to their new apartment. Avery and her husband were invited to a friend's party at that night and wanted to impress everyone by bringing ACDC to play so that they would be cool like the other kids in town. So they left a message on ACDC's number telling them about the party. The same afternoon, while they were going to get some stuff for their new apartment, they saw a bus outside a hotel, that was covered with a picture of ACDC, and it showed Angus Young (guitar Player) holding his guitar. Chris and Avery thought that they should leave a note for ACDC to play at that party that evening and so they left a note under the windscreen-wipers of their bus.

The second part of the podcast, takes place at the party, where there are lots of cool people there and Chris and Avery were hoping for ACDC to come. They were having fun at the party when the phone rang and they told them that someone posing as Angus Young wanted to talk to them. Angus started asking how the party was going and lots of other questions. After a while, some people came in a van and told the people in the party that they were sent by ACDC to inspect the place and they finally said that ACDC were going to come. The hours passed and everybody was expecting the band to appear, but they didn't show up and so the people left, and Avery and Chris were really disappointed.

The last part of the story takes place in Avery's and Chris apartment the next morning when they leave the party. As soon as they step inside they hear the answering machine telling them they have a message. Angus Young left them a message telling them that he got their message on the phone, and he was sorry he didn't go to the party.

I would be really disapointed if I was Chris and his wife, because they wanted their party to be unique by having somebody so famous to come and play. I would be still wondering why they didn't come after all, and if the first people that called was just a prank!!!
