My weekend 7th-8th February 2009

Saturday

On Saturday morning, I woke up and I went to my young cousin's house because he had his birthday party. I was bored and didn't know what to do because there were only small kids there. I asked my older cousin if there was anything I could help him with for the party and told me they needed lemons to make lemonade, so I climbed on the lemon tree and cut off some lemons!

My young brother, Athos, helped me put the lemons in the bucket, by holding it up. When I was finally finished, we took the lemons I gathered to the kitchen. My aunt put them in the lemon squeezer to get the lemon juice out and make lemonade.

Later, my older cousin and I, both did some gardening for his house. Their bush needed to be cleared because it was growing wild and so my couisin and I started cutting them. It was the first time I did something like this, and I realized that being a gardener is actually a harder job than it seems! Even though it was tiring, I was really excited to cut the leaves off the bush!

After doing the gardening, the next job on the list was to fix some broken windows on the house. My cousin and I both carried ladders and put them on the wall so that we could climb and fix them. I was really scared because I am afraid of heights, but I did it and I saw that it wasn't that scary after all.

The last job we had to do was to dig the trees of their garden and also to shave their grass. I really enjoyed shaving it, even though I destroyed half of their flowers! After a lot of hard work and dedication, we were finally over and we could enjoy the rest of the day eating cakes and pizza from my young cousin's party inside the house.

Finally, it was time for my young cousin to blow the candles. We all gathered around him and started singing happy birthday to him. It was really strange being the tallest amongst all of them! After I finished singing, I started to eat pizza and cake because I was exhausted from all the work.

After all that ''fun'', I finally went home. I needed something to relax and so I decided I was going to play some guitar so that I could practice for next day's concert as well. I sat on my bed, plugged my guitar on my marshall amp and sarted playing my solos and riffs! It was really nice because every time I play the guitar I escape from my mother's screaming and shouting and I totally relax.

Sunday

The next day at 2:30 was the concert. I got quite nervous before going to the concert. I played my guitar for last time on the morning before I went, I dressed up and I went. Me and Mr. Kostas, my teacher, brought our amplifiers and we put them on stage. Everything was ready to begin and so I took my place and waited for Mr. Kostas to start playing.

I played a couple of songs and I was driving everyone crazy with my solos! I didn't expect to play like that, beacause when I started playing I was relieved from all the stress that I was feeling before. I really enjoyed playing and I think the audience enjoyed listening to me too!
It was such a special weekend doing extraordinary things, but I really had fun!

Agree/Disagree

Politics are only for adults and young kids should have nothing to do with that.

I agree with this statement, because young people don't know a lot about politics, and are not mature enough to have a right opinion about politics. Old people know what's best for their country's politics, and know the right person to vote for when there are elections. Young children don't know what's the right thing to believe in and they get easily influenced by what other people say, and so I believe that politics is clearly a thing for adults and mature people.

All people can be happy.

I agree because I believe that if you don't allow your problems take you down, then you can be happy. Of course, it is not possible for a person to be happy at all times and have things done the way he wants to. My opinion is that if people learn to ignore little things that make them feel sad and really bad, then I am sure that all people can be happy.

Podcast

Title: Storylife Podcast
Episode: Chris Bolton- For Those About To Rock!
Date: April 4th 2008
Time: 22:32
Website: Podcast.com
Description (From the creators)- ''We invited ACDC to come to this party back in 2001. It was a silly idea. Avery and I left a note on their tour bus with our phone numbers and crude drawings. We’d just moved to Portland, OR, and we were impressed with all the cool kids and happenings in town''.

Why I picked this Podcast?

I believe that ACDC is one of the best hard rock bands ever! I like their songs and I listen to them very often. It is a band with a big name and history, and there is a lot to tell about that band. I also like rock music a lot and that's why I decided to write a music podcast summary.

I was searching for a music podcast in the internet and I found a story of two people that wanted to invite ACDC to this party. I thought it was interesting and I decided to write a summary about this unusual event.

The story takes place in Portland, where a couple Avery and Chris, move in to their new apartment. Avery and her husband were invited to a friend's party at that night and wanted to impress everyone by bringing ACDC to play so that they would be cool like the other kids in town. So they left a message on ACDC's number telling them about the party. The same afternoon, while they were going to get some stuff for their new apartment, they saw a bus outside a hotel, that was covered with a picture of ACDC, and it showed Angus Young (guitar Player) holding his guitar. Chris and Avery thought that they should leave a note for ACDC to play at that party that evening and so they left a note under the windscreen-wipers of their bus.

The second part of the podcast, takes place at the party, where there are lots of cool people there and Chris and Avery were hoping for ACDC to come. They were having fun at the party when the phone rang and they told them that someone posing as Angus Young wanted to talk to them. Angus started asking how the party was going and lots of other questions. After a while, some people came in a van and told the people in the party that they were sent by ACDC to inspect the place and they finally said that ACDC were going to come. The hours passed and everybody was expecting the band to appear, but they didn't show up and so the people left, and Avery and Chris were really disappointed.

The last part of the story takes place in Avery's and Chris apartment the next morning when they leave the party. As soon as they step inside they hear the answering machine telling them they have a message. Angus Young left them a message telling them that he got their message on the phone, and he was sorry he didn't go to the party.

I would be really disapointed if I was Chris and his wife, because they wanted their party to be unique by having somebody so famous to come and play. I would be still wondering why they didn't come after all, and if the first people that called was just a prank!!!

Lonely little Gollum!

Somewhat young, mysterious thing called Gollum, looking for his other half to spend the rest of his life with in his comfortable, fully air-conditioned cave. He is a lonely creature that wants to spend some time with his partner, because he has always been lonely for all his life. He is really famous for his attractive creepiness, and he is living in his dark cave. Of course, no creature is ever perfect, and so Gollum has some slight problems with his height, because he is small and short. He also is a bit speech-challenged, and likes to emphasize words with ''sss''! Gollum enjoys playing riddle games with ''bling-ring'' prices! Gollum also loves his alter ego, called precious! He really hates Goblins, and so he would never like his other half to be a Goblin. He is in search for the perfect match that he would like to clean his teeth with the fish bones, and make hissing sounds together while enjoying their attractive cave! Gollumn wants his wife to be a singer, so that they can sing together, and Gollum will have a chance to show his clear voice and accent! The wife will have to get used to Gollumn's smelly feet, and his stinking breath from all the fish he eats. No fat chicks or Goblin girls!!

Movie review

''Bruce Almighty'', is a comedy movie produced in 2003 by Tom Shadyack, an American comedian, producer, director, and writer. He has made many movies like Evan almighty, nutty professor and many more. I found this film really funny and amusing, and I am going to give you a movie review about this film.

Tom Shadyack directed and produced this movie in 2003, and it came out to be Europe's best comedy at that time. Jim Carrey, or Bruce Nolan, is an ordinary reporter in a radio station in New York. He is living an ordinary life with his girlfriend, Grace(Jennifer Aniston). Everything is nice for Bruce, until he looses his promotion in the radio station from another friend of his. Bruce gets angry with God, and doubts his powers until God(Morgan Freeman), reveals him-self to Bruce and offers him his powers for a week.

Bruce thinks that's totally awesome at first, but soon he will understand that God's job is harder than he thought. Bruce believes he's got the ultimate power, but by making all the people's wishes come true, he is going to get planet earth into some big trouble!!

With the plot being interesting and funny, and Jim Carrey's stupidity, this movie is amongst the funniest comedies I've ever seen! I would recommend that you would go and see that movie as soon as you can, cause it is a funny way to pass your time and I'm quite sure that everyone will like it.

This movie is in English

Director: Tom Shadyack
Writer: Steve Koren, Mark O'keefe, and Steve Oedekerk.
Actors: Jim Carrey, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Aniston

News that bite!!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is flash news! This afternoon, something really shocking happened. A killer-dog went into a butchery in Nicosia and attacked the owner of the shop. The dog bit him really hard and took all the salami from the butchery, and also he attacked the supermarket across the street and stole some halloumi. 30 men were needed to control and capture that monsterus dog, and they put it locked up in a small room so that it wouldn't harm any more people and it could eat its halloumi and salami alone! Because of the dog's size and power, the people there named it killer, and beneath this article is a picture of that dreadful dog!!

Anticipation Guide Responce

A life lived with fear is a life half lived.
I agree with the statement listed on top. My opinion is that if you are afraid of something or someone you are not going to enjoy your life. Having fear as background of every action you make, especially when you make a decision, is going to obstruct and restrict your actions. Therefore, you cannot revel the real pleasures of life, or even live your own life the way you wish to live it.
Ignorance is bliss.
I think that it is true, ignorance is indeed most of the times a bliss. For example, not knowing about something bad happening, is good because you won't be informed and won't really worry about that, so you can continue your life. Some people are scared of going to the doctor to make health exams because they are afraid of knowing there is something wrong with them, and prefer living without knowing if they are fine with their health, so that they won't get distressed about that.
Another example is with people at their job. If their jobs have financial or other problems and people don't know that, the people working there will work normally because they are not going to know anything and wont get stressed out about that.
It's better to take chances and lose than to never take a chance.
I personally believe that taking chances and losing is better that not taking any chances. You can never be sure if it's going to be a success whenever you take a chance, but you still have to try because you never know, but if you don't try at all you are not going to benefit on anything for sure. If you like a girl/guy and you want to do something with that person but you are scared to ask, it is never going to happen because the other person will not know that you are interested. If you told her that you like her you would have a chance of her saying yes to you, and even if she doesn't, you will know next time to never hit on her again! If you didn't say anything you would never get to know if she likes you too, and never get to go out with her. As an ancient Greek philosopher said once: An unexamined life is not worth living!
